Class Instruction and Scheduling

Whether you're interested in a quick tour of our archives, or a more in-depth instructional session, we're here to support your educational goals.  

How to Schedule: Please provide a minimum of two weeks' notice for scheduling a class session.

Class Instruction Options

Quick Tour (20 minutes):

  • Perfect for a brief introduction to archives.
  • Highlights key features, collections, and resources.
  • Ideal for a general overview of what we offer. 

Foundations of Archival Research (60 minutes): 

  • A comprehensive session introducing students to the basics of archival research.
  • Covers fundamental concepts, navigating finding aids, and handling primary source materials. 

Archival Use and Analysis (90 minutes):

  • A more extensive session exploring advanced archival research techniques.
  • In-depth instruction on analyzing and interpreting primary source documents.
  • Suitable for classes with specific research or project needs.

Customized Session: (1 or 2 class sessions or a lab style collaborative class):

  • Tailored instruction to fit the class's unique requirements.
  • Collaborate with SC&A staff to design a session that aligns with your curriculum.
  • Multiple visits or a dedicated class time.
  • Hands on primary document use.
