Tipasa Interlibrary Loan Procedures

Completing a loan when it is returned to Knox

When an item we have lent to a borrowing library through Tipasa is returned back to us, we close the request and mark it as complete.

1. Check the item for its Tipasa request slip bookwrap

2. If a Tipasa request slip bookwrap was not returned with the item

  • Look for the request ID number on the due date slip of the book

  • Record the following information onto a slip of paper once you’ve opened the request, then proceed with processing:

Request ID:

Title:

Due Date:

Borrowing Library Symbol:

3. From Tipasa Home, open the request by entering the Request ID from the Tipasa request slip bookwrap into the “Search for requests” bar

4. Verify the following information:

  • Title on item matches the title on the bookwrap and the title in the request

  • Number of volumes/pieces match; if there are multiple volumes/pieces, number of pieces matches the number noted on the Tipasa bookwrap and in the Local ID field in the request

  • Request status is returned

  • If this information does not match, stop processing and give to supervisor

5. Click Checked-in/Complete  A confirmation message appears and the request is complete.

6. Give Tipasa request slip bookwrap to supervisor

7. Take item to the circulation desk return drop box

Note: If the item is marked Not Returned, it appears in the left navigation under Returned > Returned but Missing and ages out of the system after 180 days.
