Knox College Library Policies and Procedures
To generate a list of items in the Mending department:
1. In Alma, switch the library to "Mending."
2. Go to Fulfillment > Manage in process items.
3. A list appears. Export to Excel.
Items that need to be mended or repaired should be assigned to the "In Mending" department. This will let library staff know where the items are located and will also display that new location in Knox Primo. Patrons will still be able to place requests on items in the "In Mending" department.
Materials that need mending should first be routed to the "In Mending" department in Alma, and then they should be place in the center-north cubical in Tech Services.
There are two ways to move an item to the "In Mending" department:
1. Do a physical items search and scan in the barcode:
2. Click the more actions button (ellipses) to the right of the item. (If the item is not found, give it to a librarian for further research.) Select Work Order.
3. Choose the process type "Being repaired."
4. The Place Item in Process screen appears. Make sure the Process Type is "Being Repaired." The Do not pick from shelf button should be checked. The Managing department should be "Mending."
5. Click the SUBMIT button. The physical items page refreshes. Check to see that the item is placed in the Mending department and the Process type is Being repaired:
2. Go to Fulfillment > Scan in items.
3. Make sure the Status is set to Being Repaired. Print slip should be "no" and Done should also be "no."
4. Scan in the barcode. The new destination location is "Being repaired." Note: If the destination location is something else, then it means you were not logged into Alma at the "In Mending" location. The item will need to be transited to the "Being Repaired" destination.
1. Change your Alma location to the "In Mending" department. Note: Not all staff have the "In Mending" department as an option.
2. Go to Fulfillment > Scan in Items.
3. Set the Done button to YES, and then scan in the barcode. (Ignore the Set Status option.)
4. The item will be transited to its original location. A transit slip print window opens--do not print the slip.
5. The items will need to be scanned in at their original locations. For example, if the mended item belongs in Seymour Library, change the current library/department in Alma to Seymour Library, then go to Fulfillment > Scan in Items and scan in the barcode. The item can now be reshelved.
