Generally, borrowers who should not be assigned borrowing privileges are prevented from borrowing and requesting materials because their patron record has expired. But, there are times when blocks should be applied to borrower records. The two types of patron blocks currently in use are: 

• a block for an employee terminated from employment
• a block for a student withdrawn from the College
