Creative Commons Licenses

Licenses for Remixes

For adaptations using a mix of different CC licenses, you must choose a license for your final work that is compatible with the most restrictive license of all the works you are using.

To use the License Compatibility Chart, identify the license that applies to one of the underlying works in the left column and then find the license that applies to another underlying work on the top row. If there is a check mark in the box where that row and column intersect, then the works using those two licenses can be remixed into a new work. If there is an “X” in the box, then the works may not generally be remixed.[2]
