Searching for items

Finding Items

There are 3 places you will need to look to find out if a book has already been cataloged.

  1. The Knox Library collection. In Alma, the IZ (Institution Zone)
  2. The I-Share collection. In Alma, the NZ (Network Zone)
  3. In WorldCat (OCLC) to see if the book is cataloged by anyone.
  4. Anything not found in any of these places will need to be sent to the CMC.

Use This Form to submit a request for the item to be cataloged by the CMC.

  1. For Reason use "Special Collection"
  2. Chose the Format based on the item.
  3. Title from the title page of the item.
  4. Author from the title page (maybe be corporate or more than one person)
  5. Classification: Library of Congress
  6. Place, Publisher, Date taken from title page or verso
  7. Photos: Be sure to store any photos in the Acq/Cat Student Drive in the CMC folder for images.
  8. Be sure to include a description of the item including pages numbers, illustrations (color or b&w), height. Also include table of contents and description, if available.
  9. Save the form as a PDF to the Acq/Cat Student Drive in the CMC folder under Saved CMC Submissions.
  10. You may get questions and requests for additional photos.
