Knox College Library Policies and Procedures
Reserves can be discovered in Knox Primo using either the Knox Library Catalog search or the Course Reserves search. However, it is preferable for students to find Reserves in Knox Primo using the Course Reserves search because the results list can be limited by Reserves parameters such as Instructor, Course Name, and Course Code:
Reserves are searchable in Knox Primo 15 minutes after adding them in Alma.
In Knox Primo, when an item is on reserve, it will show a "course" icon and will display the reserve location information:
To find out what course (i.e., reading list) a reserve item is associated with:
1. In Alma, search for the item by title using the Citations search:
2. Find the item in the list, then look for the Reading List info:
Search for an item in Alma by title, author, keyword, MMS ID, barcode, etc. When you find the record in the results list, click on "Physical" to see the holdings:
Items that are are reserve will have an additional holding created showing the temporary location of the reserve item, and the item with a temporary location will have a clock symbol next to the location:
In the example above, there is only one copy of the title held at the Knox libraries, not two. Alma shows the original location AND the temporary location.
