Alma Reserves Processing

Reserves processing in Alma

If the Item Going on Reserve is Checked Out

If the item going on Reserve is checked out move through the entire reserves processing workflow, including the step of placing the request to move it to the temporary location. When you finish this step, the item will be automatically recalled (the patron will get a recall notice). However, the automatic recall will not shorten the due date. To change the due date:

1. Do a Physical Items search for the item's barcode.

2. Locate the item in the search results and select the link for Process Type: Loan. This will open a screen with loan details, including the borrower’s name.

3. Copy the borrower’s name and do a User search for the patron.

4. Find the user record in the search results and open their record.

5. Select the Manage Fulfillment Activities link.

6. Locate the recalled item on the user’s Loans tab, then select the ellipsis> Change Due Date.

7. Enter the new due date and then select the Change Due Date button. You should receive confirmation that the due date was changed. Alma also sends the user a second Loan Status Notice letter, with the modified due date.
