Knox College Library Policies and Procedures
Purchase requests come into Alma in two ways:
A. Patron makes a purchase request in Knox Primo. Patron must be logged into Knox Primo and then the Purchase request option appears in the "How to get it" section:
B. Librarian creates the purchase request in Alma. See the instructions in the menu on the left.
The purchase request appears in Alma as "unassigned". The collection strategies librarian will check incoming purchase requests regularly and assign them to the appropriate librarian.
The librarian will then work with purchase requests and either cancel them or move them toward the order stage. See the instructions in the menu on the left for working with purchase requests. Be sure to search Alma to see if we already own the book/item before moving forward.
How to View Purchase Requests Assigned to You
You can easily see the purchase requests assigned to you by adding the Tasks widget to your Alma home screen.
From the Alma home screen, click on the X in the upper right:
Tick the box for the Tasks widget (along with any other you want to add). The tasks widget appears on your Alma home screen. You can click and drag the widget to any position on the screen.
In the tasks widget, click on Purchase Requests > assigned to me.
