Processing Special Collections and Archives books

Books for Special Collections and Archives do not get stamped or have Date Due slips.

Barcodes and Spine labels will go on a paper flag, not on the book.

  1. When receiving you can still write the date received, vendor, and cost in pencil across from the verso, after the Title page.
  2. There is a box of acid free paper that we will use for flags. The paper needs to be cut into 4 equal strips that are 2.25 inches wide and 8.5 inches long.
  3. Place the book barcode about 2 inches from the top edge of the paper.
  4. The books will get a book plate corresponding to the Reporting Fund or the Collection where they belong.
  5. The spine label goes above the barcode on the flag.
  6. If they belong to a Named Special Collection, they will need a stamp with that Collection Name above their call number.
