HIST 323: Germany Since 1945

Historical Abstracts

Historical Abstracts is the premier database for world history (except for North America) covering history from 1450 to the present. Topics include world history, military history, women's history, history of education, and more. This database provides indexing for more than 1,700 academic historical journals in over 40 languages and covers 1955 to the present.

  • The database covers all languages, so if you only read English, filter your search results by clicking on the "All filters" button and then selecting a language from the list.

  • Items from the journal Dissertation Abstracts International are not usually available. These items point to an abstract of a dissertation, not the dissertation itself. The dissertations are not available for interlibrary loan. Here is an example of a citation from Dissertation Abstracts International:

Additional Databases

Use the Political Science Complete database in addition to Historical Abstracts. There will be some overlap between the two databases, but it's worth exploring both.

Additionally, if you are exploring a topic related to German culture, you may wish to pursue sources from other arts and humanities disciplines. Use the following databases to find scholarship in art, literature and music.
