The following journals are open access. This means that they do not exist behind pay walls and that you do not need to use a database to access them. You may, however, find that using a database to search for your specific topic is still easier. Some of these areas are niche, while others are more broad. Please see your librarian if you have questions!

The Open Encyclopedia of Anthropology
"Its goal is to facilitate access to scholarship in Social Anthropology for experts and non-experts worldwide. All entries are written and peer-reviewed by leading academics."
Cultural Anthropology
This is the most prominent OA journal at this time.
Do note, not everything is peer reviewed.
Hau Journal
Contains the the Journal of Ethnographic Theory: "an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal which aims to situate ethnography as the prime heuristic of anthropology and return it to the forefront of conceptual developments in the discipline."
Journal of Business Anthropology
"An Open Access journal which publishes the results of anthropological research in business organizations and business situations of all kinds."
Medicine Anthropology
"An English-language, fully open access journal hosted by the University of Edinburgh that publishes scholarly articles, position pieces, reviews, and notes from the field related to the areas of medical anthropology, the anthropology of biomedicine, critical global health studies, medical humanities, and science and technology studies. "
Museum Anthropology Review
Suspended in February 2023.
"Worked to advance research and professional practice within the diverse, international fields of museum anthropology, museum-based folklore studies, and material culture studies and to foster communication within and between them."
