ENVS 243: Energy

Knox Primo

As with any database, you can search the Knox Primo using keywords that describe your topic.

  • Use as few terms as possible that describe your topic. For instance, if you searched using the question "how do i measure energy consumption in public buildings" you would not retrieve very many items. A better search uses just the fewest terms to describe your topic, like this:

buildings energy measurement.

  • Use the facets in the right-hand columns of your results screen to narrow your search. Use the facet "Creation Date" to narrow results to most recent items, for example.

Search Knox Primo using the All I-Share Libraries or Everything search option. (See What is I-Share?) When you find an item you want to request from I-Share click on the link to Request Item via I-Share:

Note: You must be signed into Knox Primo to see the I-Share request link!

Browsing the Shelves in Seymour Library

Books in the library are arranged on the shelves using the Library of Congress (LC) classification system. This means that books are grouped together by subject, allowing you to quickly find related materials on a topic. When you find a book relevant to your topic take some time and browse the shelves in that area to find more relevant books.

Below are some relevant call number sections for topics in energy and environmental studies generally, but remember that if your topic is more interdisciplinary, you will find books elsewhere.
