Steps to get an article

To get to the Full Text of an Article - you need to follow these steps:

  • Is there a Direct Online Link to the Article in the database?

    •  Look for a Full Text or PDF link right there in the results list.
    • If not, go to the next step.
  • Check to see if Knox has a copy in the Library.

    • In Academic Search Complete - Look for the notes at the end of the citation about print holdings it will say one of these things
      •  "Knox does not have a print subscription to this title" - meaning we don't so go to the next bullet step below
      • "Science Library has issues from....." followed by the dates we own - this means the print journal is in the science library and you can get the article there to copy or scan.

    • In Web of Science - Web of Science does not list our print holdings, but you can check our online holdings first per the step below, then if we do not have it online, select the Search Library catalog option to see if we have a print copy.
  • Check to see if Knox has an Online Subscription - You cannot tell this directly from Academic Search Complete or Web of Science without taking this next step

    •  Click on the FindIt Button

 PsycInfo5

  • This will open another window or tab, depending on your browser settings
  • At the top of the new window it will either say :
    • Full Text Available via

ASP11

  • If you get this indication - click the Red Go button.
  • That will open another window
  • It will either take you directly to the article, or to a list of issues and you will need to navigat to the right year, volume number and page.

  • No Full Text Available

  • Get it via Interlibrary Loan - in 24hrs

If there is no Full text & Knox does not have a Print Subscription you can still get the article via Interlibrary loan. This takes approx 5-7 days.  If you don't have that much time for the lab currently due, but there is another lab coming up - then still request it so that you have it for the next one if you are working on the same topic.

  • Follow the steps above to check for Online and Print Copies
  • When you are on the Screen saying there is no full text, click on the ILL Go button :
PsycInfo8
  • When you do this you will be prompted to log on to your Illiad account.  (See the other tab for creating one).
  • Log in to Illiad
  • It will fill out the form for you with the article details
  • Enter the Course Code & Professor BIO210 - Templeton
  • Submit
  • You will get an email when the article comes in, and you can then pick up the article at the library.  It will be a photocopy that is yours to keep.
