Sorting & Limiting Results

Limiting or Sorting Your Results

Because Web of Science indexes so many articles, you are likely to get lots of results, and the best ones won't necessarily be on top.  There are some different ways to limit or sort through your results to get the best articles.

Limiting by Date - Before you click search, look down under the search boxes for the Current Limits section.  Look for the publication date limit and pull down the "From" date box.  So, if you want most recent 3 years choose 2008 in this box, and leave the "to" box at 2010

Sorting by Times Cited ~ This allows you to see the most cited, i.e. the most important articles, first.

On the results page look for the "Sort by" box to the far right of the results.  Choose "Times Cited"
