Our academic library consortium, CARLI, has made arrangements with two major publishers, Wiley and Oxford, to provide access to thousands of recently published ebooks for the 2020-2021 academic year. All titles are discoverable in Knox Primo. You can embed links to these ebooks or chapters from them in your course management system pages. To browse available titles:

Course Texts 

We can obtain institutional multi-user ebook licenses for many course texts. This means that all your students can access it remotely and not have to obtain their own copy. Note these trends in availability:

Often Available 

  • Monographs published in the last 10 years
  • Older Monographs - if classic texts frequently used in academia
  • Specialized textbooks - Example: The Calculus textbook may not be available but the Linear Algebra textbook might be

Often Not Available 

  • Traditional textbooks published by major textbook publishers such as Pearson (faculty and students should pursue these on their own).
  • Older monographs
  • Workbooks or manuals 

Checking on availability

  • For a specific title -- We can check if a specific text is available with an institutional multi-user license.   Use the Library Assistance Request form or email your librarian liaison and be sure to include titles, editions, course number.
  • For potential texts by Subject -- If the text you were planning to use is not available as an Ebook or you just want to know if there is an ebook available for the type of text you want to use, we can check this as well. Use the Library Assistance Request form or email your librarian liaison and let us know the topic and type of text you are looking for as well as the course number. 


Sources for Individual Student Research Papers & Projects 

We already have many online tools and resources for students.

  • Journal articles, via our databases, online subscriptions, and ILLiad (our interlibrary loan system) will be accessible during this time.
  • Thousands of ebooks are listed in Knox Primo including individual ebook titles and the ACLS Humanities Ebook Collection. ‚ÄčTo find ebooks in Knox Primo search by keyword, author, title, etc., then in the right-hand column on your results page, limit by format to "Electronic".
  • Our JSTOR platform also provides access to thousands more ebooks. You can link to specific chapters in a JSTOR ebook.
  • Project Muse has about 2,000 open access ebooks. Search Project Muse and look for the open access icon: . In addition many publishers have opened up access to their content on the Project Muse platform; search Muse and look for a green checkmark next to an item.
