Get Textbooks

Can I check textbooks out from the Knox Library?

Short Answer: Probably not.

Long Answer: The library does not own the vast majority of required course texts. If your course text is a novel, a book of essays or a scholarly book, it might be available in the library. Search Knox Primo to find out, but remember to match the title, author, publication date (edition).

If the library does have my textbook can I use it instead of buying a copy?

Short Answer: Probably not.

Long Answer: If your text is not a traditional textbook and we do have it, it will probably be on closed reserve for your course. This means you will be able to check it out for 2 hours at a time if it is not already checked out by another classmate. This does not facilitate academic success at Knox College. Your best option is to purchase or rent a copy to use whenever and however you choose. Remember that you can usually sell textbooks back at the end of the term.
