Creating Book Displays and Alma Collections

This guide will show you how to create a book display and a Collection in Alma.

Request Books be Moved to Display (Path 1)

This is the method to use if you are adding books to the Display shelf at the same time as you add them to the Collection.

  1. Click on the 3 dots again.List of book actions which includes Request.
  2. Chose Request.
  3. This action will place the book on the Pick List and allow you to move it temporarily onto the Display Shelf Location at the same time.
  4. Fill out the following fields:
    1. Request Type: Move temporarily
    2. To: Seymour Library
    3. Destination Location: Display Shelves
    4. Due Back: Day you want the display taken down. (They will reappear on the Pick List on that day to move back to Main.)
  5. Circulation staff will pull the books from the shelf and can add the Display book stickers to the books.
  6. Return to your Result set to find the next book.
  7. Request form that shows the fields needed to fill out and explained on this page.

 

Bulk move to Display Shelf (Path 2)

If you prefer to gather books and look them over before placing them on the Display shelf, the Bulk move to Display Shelf may be a better option than making a Request to move them in Alma.

  1. Gather the books near a computer with scanner access. 
  2. Go to Fulfillment > Resource Requests > Scan in Items. 
  3. Click on the tab "Change Item Information."
  4. Use the following settings:
    1. Change Type: Temporary
    2. Location: Display Shelves
    3. Due back: the date you want the display taken down.
  5. Scan each of the books. Each book will automatically update with this information.
  6. Add the blue Display stickers to the spines of the books.
