Interlibrary Loan is a good way for students to access materials that aren't available at Knox.  Students can use I-Share and TIPASA to request books and journal articles for research, for course texts, and for personal reading.  

I-Share is usually the faster way to fulfill requests for books or other physical media.  TIPASA is faster for digital items, such as scans of journal articles.

Requesting a book or journal through I-share

1. Search for an item in Knox Primo.  The default is to search "Everything: Books, media, articles, more."  This checks i-share libraries as well as our databases. 

2. Make sure you are logged in to see the available options.  There will be a prompt at the top of the screen.  You can see that the first item in the list is a book, and that it is not available at Knox.  Click "Not available at Knox; check for more options" 

3. Here you can see the books availability and options for requesting.  Students should try to request through I-share if possible and use Tipasa as a second option.  Once you click on either option you will fill out a short form for the request information then hit submit.
