Web of Science (WOS) is largest database indexing science articles at Knox. The journals indexed in Web of Science are the leading peer-reviewed journals in each field of study.

It also allows for citation searching. This powerful tool allows you to take a paper that you have already found and use it to find all the subsequent papers that cite that article. See this pdf for tips on searching Web of Science.

Use the  (Find It) button to look for the article in Knox Primo. If there is no full text available, click on the link to get the article using the Tipasa ILL service.

Basic Searching in Web of Science

For a basic search WOS connects your words with AND by default. (If you want to search for a phrase, put quotation marks around the terms.)

Example: crickets learning memory

looks for items with all 3 words.

When using synonyms enter them on another row (click the ADD ROW button).

Limit your search terms to the article title to focus your search and get a more relevant results set.

Enter your terms in the boxes then change the search box type from All Fields to Title:

Note: You never want to put species names in the Title field. These terms often occur in the headings fields and in the abstracts, so limiting to the title can omit really good articles.
