APA (American Psychological Association) Style

Refer to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association for a full description of the APA citation style. Copies of the latest edition are available in the Reference sections in Seymour Library and in the SMC Library, call number:  BF76.7 P83 2020.

The APA Style website has a discussion with examples of how to cite AI text in papers.

The Chicago Manual of Style

The 17th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style is the preferred style guide for  student papers in History at Knox (notes-bibliography format for references). This style manual also has a wealth of information about preparing a paper or manuscript.

The Chicago Manual of Style Online is the full text available online of the printed book; the Citation Quick Guide to citation is also very useful as a starting point.

The 17th edition of the book is also available in Seymour Library, call number: Reference Z253 U69 2017.

Citing Generative AI in Chicago Style

Section 14.112 of the Chicago Manual of Style details considerations for citing AI generated content and provides some examples. 

Turabian

The "Turabian" style guide is based upon The Chicago Manual of Style, and is often easier to use than the Chicago style manual.
