Article Databases

Historical Abstracts covers the history of the world (excluding the United States and Canada) from 1450 to the present, including world history, military history, women's history, history of education, and more. It indexes over 1800 journals going back to 1955; some of the journals covered are non-English language publications.

America: History & Life is a database focusing on the history and culture of North American places covering prehistory to the present. The database includes citations, from the early 20th century to the present, to articles in history journals and other allied social sciences disciplines as they relate to the study of history.

Art & Architecture Complete Archaeology is a major subject area covered by this database. 

ATLA Religion covers the scholarly literature of religious studies: Biblical studies, archaeology, world religions, church history, and religion in social issues. The database covers academic journals, essay collections and book reviews from 1949 to the present.

Humanities Source covers archaeology topics with full text access.

JSTOR
JSTOR is a collection of full text journals on nearly every subject; the journals selected are the most important scholarly journals in each field of study and nearly all of the content is peer reviewed. JSTOR also has books from academic publishers.

Academic Search Complete
This is a general database covering all subject areas. Most of the items in your results list will be from peer-reviewed journals.

SocINDEX
This database covers some anthropology literature.

Search multiple databases at the same time in EBSCO:

While in EBSCO, click on the link to the database that appears at the top:

Select the the databases you want to search from the list.

Some databases allow you to limit your results to peer-reviewed journals. In the EBSCO databases (Greenfile and Academic Search Complete) the limiting option can be applied after you get your results list -- it appears on the left and looks like this:

Filter your results list to English-only publications. After getting a results list, click on the "All filters" button

and use the Language filter to limit to English.
