Books with Images of Artists' Work

To find books with images of an artist's work, use the artist's name as a search term in Knox Primo and select the "author/creator" index:

Books About Specific Artistic Movements

To find books about specific artistic movements, use the name of the movement as a search term in Knox Primo and select the "anywhere in the record" index. If your search term is usually seen consistently as a phrase, as in the example below, also select the option "that contain the exact phrase."

A&AePortal Collection

The A&AePortal collection provides access to hundreds of ebooks from Yale University Press. 

You can search for images published in the book collection separately: A&AePortal Image Search. Search by keywords, then refine your results using creator name, style, subject, date, or other criteria.

What is a Call Number?

Libraries use a call number system to organize materials in their collections. A call number allows you to find a book on the shelf, and also gives you some indication of the subject matter of the book. Watch this brief video (3:55) to learn how to read call numbers.
