BHA and RILA -- Search both the Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) and Répertoire international de la littérature de l'art (RILA) at the Getty site. The two databases cover European and American visual arts material including articles from over 1,200 journals. Since this free database has no links to Knox subscriptions, when you find an item you want, search for it by title in Knox Primo. JSTOR -- A full text repository of scholarly journals and books. There are over 200 journals in the areas of art, art history, and architecture in JSTOR.
The Masterfile Premier database covers popular magazines and news sources. Sometimes an artist's work may be written about in these types of sources if the artist has more popular appeal.
The Getty Center's catalog has a wide variety of material in it: journal articles, books, auction catalogs, images, and materials from their archives. This is a freely searchable database, and some items may be there in full text. If no full text is available, when you find an item you want, search for it by title in Knox Primo. Use the filter to limit your results to "Peer Reviewed" journals. You can apply this filter either before you search or after you get a results list.
Many items in your results list will have links to the full text. If no full text exists in the database, click on the "Access options" button and then on the Find It link to view more options for getting the item from services displayed in Knox Primo.
