The purpose of the LMS Ad Hoc Implementation Team is to manage the implementation of the new learning management system (D2L Brightspace) from its initial launch through full implementation.

Charge:

Provide comprehensive management of the LMS implementation process through consultation with users across campus. The key responsibilities include:

  • Participate in Brightspace training sessions to gain familiarities with its features and begin to develop an appreciation of the possible needs of users.
  • Provide a consistent source of communication and guidance regarding each phase of the implementation process.
  • Establish an implementation timeline and identify key moments in the transition away from the existing Moodle system and the full implementation of the new system.
  • Plan informational and training sessions and workshops to ensure basic facility for all users and, where appropriate, opportunities to learn about advanced capabilities of the system.
  • Serve as the liaison to technical support as questions and issues emerge.
  • As questions of educational policy arise, bring forward proposals to the Executive Committee and the Provost for consideration.
  • Make recommendations regarding the ongoing management of the LMS system once the team’s duties conclude.

It is expected that the LMS Ad Hoc Implementation Team will begin its work in June 2025 and conclude its work by spring 2026.
