Try searching more than one of these databases to discover the best resources for your topic.
GeoRef -- A comprehensive index to geology and related geosciences journals, technical reports and conference papers.
Greenfile -- covers all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles. For best results, check the box to the left of your search results list to limit to "Scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals."
Web of Science -- An index of over 11,000 high quality journals in the sciences, social sciences and humanities; the journals covered are peer-reviewed journals.
Academic Search Complete is a large database of mostly scholarly material. Some general interest magazines are covered as well. For best results, check the box to the left of your search results list to limit to "Scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals."

Some databases allow you to limit your results to peer-reviewed journals. In the EBSCO databases (Greenfile and Academic Search Complete) the limiting option can be applied after you get your results list -- it appears on the left and looks like this:
