Arthur James Dibden Papers
Biographical Notes: Arthur J. Dibden, a member of the Knox
College faculty from 1949-1961, became Chairman of the Philosophy and Religion
Department before leaving for a position as dean of Blackburn College in Carlinville,
IL. From there he moved on to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale,
IL where he also served as dean before becoming president of Johnson State
College in Johnson City, Vermont, where he died in 1969 at the age of 50.
During his academic career he wrote several articles and bibliographies,
which along with some correspondence is what comprises this collection.
As he was a Knox faculty member, he also has a file in the Faculty Series.
This file contains biographical information including: newsclippings,
press releases, photos and a few copies of his writings.
