Edward Beecher Letters Manuscript Collections October 19, 1855-November 24, 1855Biographical Notes:Reverend Edward Beecher (1803-1895), the son of Lyman Beecher and brother of Henry Ward Beecher and Harriet Beecher Stowe was an educator, Congregational minister, author and abolitionist. He was the President of Illinois College (1830-1844), Pastor of the First Congregational Church, Galesburg, Illinois (1855-1873), and a Trustee of Knox College (1866-1873). After leaving Illinois he returned to the East. Beecher assisted his brother, Henry, and worked in church affairs until his death.
