Adaline Clendenin Ewing Letters, 1813-1882Biographical NotesAdaline Clendenin Ewing (1813-1882) ),born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.After her marriage to James Patterson Ewing in 1836, she and her husband moved to western Illinois, settling in Galesburg in 1855. They had six children. Three of Adaline’s seven siblings moved to Illinois as well. Two of those siblings attended Knox College: Letitia Clendenin Hopper (K1853) and David Ramsay Clendenin (K1854). The transcriptions and other data were compiled and bound by Lawrence Bailard and Robert Ryan Descendants of Adaline Clendenin Ewing. The majority of the letters were received or written by Adaline Clendenin Ewing; others were receive or written by her husband, siblings and children. The collection includes letters from both Letitia Clendenin Hopper and David Ramsay Clendenin. .
